When Comedy Goes Horribly Wrong

Executive Producer
1st TX: 18th February 2018.
This 3 hour special narrated by Julian Clary features comedy going horribly wrong on an epic scale and stars some of the nation’s best-loved funny men and women.
Making audiences laugh has been the goal of every comedian since the beginning of time, but sometimes the laughs turn into panic when things don’t go according to plan. There are banana skin outtakes from some much-loved comedy favourites as well as stories of comedians who overstepped the mark, put their foot in it, went off the rails or suffered humiliating performances.
The show features the less-than-perfect moments from comedy gold. There are side-splitting and sometimes jaw-dropping, first-hand accounts from the people who were there including the biggest and smallest names in comedy Little & Large who reveal how a health scare brought their time in the limelight to virtual standstill. Stuntman Rocky Taylor recalls how a studio fight ended in disaster for Russell Howard as, in a moment of forgetfulness, he leant on a prop bolsa wood table. And Celebrity Big Brother star Daniel O’Reilly aka Dapper Laughs recounts the dark time in his life when an off-colour joke ruined his rise to stardom.
Highlights include an recently unearthed outtake unseen for over 35 years from a long forgotten sitcom called Tom Dick & Harriet in which a young Ian Ogilvy along with the late Lionel Jeffries almost drown during a car stunt in a lake. Controversial artist Tyler Shields lifts the lid on his controversial Donald Trump photograph that landed comedienne Kathy Griffin in hot water. Plus, there’s the time that a young comic wowed the judges on Australia’s Got Talent only for them to later find out he’d stolen the whole act from Lee Mack.
